A two-section sideboard by charles dudouyt, made of oak with brass hardware. This exceptional sideboard is typical of charles dudouyt, whose style was known for being both rustic and contemporary. The upper section of this sideboard features a central niche, flanked by two smaller doors on either side. The lower section consists of four wider doors, each adorned with carved panels. These panels feature geometric patterns composed of squares containing concentric circles and diamond squares, lending a textured and decorative appearance. The concentric circles are also dudouyt’s signature feature. This type of ornamentation is found on the vast majority of his furniture. The carving technique creates interplay of light and shadow on the decorative surfaces. The choice of finish highlights the quality of the wood and the durability of the piece. Copper handles and hinges add touches of contrast. The buffet’s legs are turned, giving it a stable and elegant base. A central leg ensures the stability of the entire piece of furniture (see the product photo).
