This exclusive sideboard design dates from 1925–1926 and was produced by the furniture manufacturer H. Pander. The piece is executed in luxurious coromandel veneer and reflects Wouda's distinctive cubist and rationalist approach to furniture design. Comparable documented works by Wouda from this period were made in coromandel and other exotic veneers for Pander. The design was exhibited in connection with the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris, the event that gave rise to the term Art Deco.
