An unusually large Jacobean style solid oak Joint Stool, mortise, tenon and pegged construction, the overhanging top above a chip-carved frieze with four turned legs, the robust bulbous turnings typical of those found on Jacobean and Elizabethan furniture of the 16th and 17th centuries, all connected by a box stretcher. This is a 19th century example, made the same way as the earlier examples. Very good condition, sturdy and ready to place. There is a shrinkage gap in the top in the knot of the wood that does not affect the integrity of the stool and simply adds character. These make perfect chair side tables and this one is large enough to serve as a coffee table if desired.
