Large solid walnut storage bench, napoleon iii period, second half of the 19th century. the structure comprises a chest with a molded base, framed panels on the front and sides, resting on turned baluster legs carved with foliate motifs characteristic of the henri ii – napoleon iii style. The upper corners of the detached backrest are adorned with carved scrolls and foliage. The upholstered seat and backrest are covered in black leather, secured with brass nails with gilt heads. workshop report: the leather shows significant wear with cracking and flaking, particularly on the seat. The original horsehair stuffing and burlap are still visible beneath the seat. Reupholstering is necessary and can be carried out by the workshop upon request and quote.
