Nice 17th century chest in brown chesnut. Hand carved facade panel with geometrics decorations. Plinth with brace decorations, dovetail assembly with wrought iron wardware. Add a real show stopper to your interior with this extremely large English Carolean chest or coffer, which can be used for blankets, bedding or other storage or display purposes. This striking piece is fabricated from hand carved chesnut and elm and is probably thought to be Welsh from the mid-late 17th century. The chest has a weighty top which opens to a cavernous interior storage. The front panel includes carvings within geometric designs which centre a large wrought iron escutcheon over a smaller radiant roundel. It would look great in a Classic or contemporary dining room, living room, den, family room, hallway, office or bedroom. It would also be an Apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium. Consider it for a short term or long term storage chest, blankets, bedding and pillows chest, or somewhere to stow away your kids when you have guests over (we are just kidding about this last one). Very good antique condition. Sturdy and presents very well. Signs of wear commensurate with age and use are apparent Completely restored.
