Large and weathered painted wedding chest from southern Germany. The chest has a very rustic look and is full of character. It is primarily painted in green and red colors with floral decorations on the panels. The paint is quite worn, which gives it an extremely decorative look. The chest is in good condition, but shows signs of use. There are a few old woodworm marks, which have of course been checked and treated. In the past, it was customary to give wedding furniture such as this to the couple as a wedding gift. This furniture was then placed in a display room on the farm, which was only rarely used for important visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
