This beautiful Qing Dynasty (mid 19th century) scroll chest was used for storing fine Chinese painting scrolls. Made of soft wood with all leather interior and exterior, the piece has been lacquered and waxed. Hard ware is original yellow brass. A cartouche of raised and gilded calligraphics on the front top left cover reads "Chan Kan Chung."
