This listing is for an early 19th century (Joseon Dynasty) Korean chest/cabinet. This type of cabinet was made for storing clothing much like a dresser. In Korean, this style of cabinetry is called 농 (nong) or in this case 이층농 (ichung-nong), meaning "2 level cabinet." Nong cabinets are composed of 2 identical chests made to be stacked. Their design has handles on all sides, allowing for easy separation and mobility. This nong has a nice aged red color and brass accents throughout. Each of the chests has double doors allowing for easy access to the inside. This piece most likely comes from Gyeonggi province. Together, this stacked nong measures 31.25 x 16.5 x 48 inches. Each chest measures 31.25 x 16.5 x 24 inches.
