An exceptional antique bridal chest dating from around 1825, originating from Franconia, southern Germany. We recently discovered this piece in a historic, late 18th-century farmhouse, where it had long ago been placed in the barn. This chest immediately stands out as an extremely exclusive piece of furniture, partly due to its very distinctive paintwork featuring refined motifs. Its well-worn character, combined with the rare paintwork, gives the piece an incredible, museum-quality appearance. The chest is finished in a soft blue base color with beautiful yet simple floral panels, while the sides are adorned with unique motifs. Over the years, only minimal, necessary restoration work has been carried out. The practical interior layout is still completely original (featuring a shelf and coat hooks), as is the impressive locking mechanism. Old, sporadic woodworm traces are visible, but these have, of course, been thoroughly inspected and treated preventively. For transport, the cabinet can be conveniently disassembled into two parts. 183 cm high, 130 cm wide, 53 cm deep.
