Exceptional bridal cabinet in original paint from Franconia, southern Germany. This cabinet dates from the late 18th century and the original paint is beautifully worn in a characteristic way. This specimen has a rather unusual color composition with yellow, red and green. On the door, the panel depicts the tree of life, growing up from the chalice of the water of life. Core motif for folk art of the time. The cabinet shows some old repairs on the footer and on the corners of the door. Sporadically some old woodworm marks can be observed, these have obviously been checked and treated. The piece of furniture has three shelves on the inside and has a working lock with key. It used to be customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding present to the couple. This furniture was afterwards placed on the farm in a showroom that was only rarely used for high visits or special occasions.
