An exceptional antique pine wedding chest dating from 1806. This chest has a simple design but is beautifully painted with floral decorations on the panels. The previous owner’s wedding date is painted above the door. For its age, this piece is still in good condition, although there are, of course, some signs of wear and old restorations. The interior features two shelves. The cabinet has a working lock with a key. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a wedding gift to the couple. This furniture was subsequently placed in a parlor on the farm, which was used only rarely for distinguished guests or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history, indeed. This example originates from southern Germany (Oberpfalz). 177 cm high, 122 cm wide, 54 cm deep.
