Electrified Kerosene Lamps In Glazed Earthenware With Gilt Bronze Mounts And Geometric Decor From Longwy, Late 19th Century, Set Of 2

A pair of earthenware vases from the Longwy factory (Lorraine, France), founded in 1798, originally mounted as oil lamps with chased gilt-bronze mounts, later electrified. The baluster-shaped body of each vase, with its globular belly, is decorated with a rich geometric relief motif of medallions, clovers, and stylized foliage in cobalt blue, sage green, and gilt ochre enamels, in an oriental style characteristic of late 19th-century Longwy production. The finely crafted gilt-bronze mounts bear the maker's mark, JS. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
