Matched pair of hand-carved wood table lamps from Kashmir, India. Each lamp features deeply carved chinar leaf and vine motifs covering the entire surface — from the round base to the stacked, turned column sections. The chinar tree (oriental plane) is an iconic symbol of Kashmir, and this traditional motif is one of the most celebrated designs in Kashmiri woodcarving. The carving is intricate, with high-relief leaves wrapping naturally around each section and an especially beautiful openwork vine pattern on the circular bases, bordered by a hand-carved rope/braid detail. The warm patina of the walnut suggests age and careful handling. Both lamps are fitted with Leviton sockets and are wired for US use. Sold as a pair. Note: Each lamp is individually hand-carved, so slight variations between the two are natural and expected.
