Very rare Kalmar "Dornstab" table lamp. An early design classic that derives its elegance from the functionality of its design. The lamp's unique feature lies in the arrangement of the lampshade. The saber-shaped stem pierces the shade and emerges from the opening at the top. This design allows for manual height adjustment. Pins are positioned at regular intervals along the top of the stem, into which the lampshade is suspended. Another distinctive feature is the design of the base. The base is forked into two prongs, which support the weight of the projecting stem. The cable is routed through a hole in the base and over a brass eyelet. The lamp is in very good condition with signs of use and some noticeable patina on the shade. The shade could be re-covered. Design: J.T. Kalmar, A.
