Modern Brutalist Rustic Wrought Iron Chain Table Lamp, France, 1960s

Chairish

$2,731

A singular and very beautiful wrought iron table lamp, made by a French ironworker from the 60s, by reusing mechanical and agricultural elements in wrought iron: it is a rigorous Rustic Modern, Brutalist, Modernist composition, combining a circular base, a large hook mounted asymmetrically to the circular base, and large chain links and a ring forming a central axis above the hook, on which is mounted an electric socket allowing to fix a beautiful lampshade. It is undoubtedly a unique piece made by a (still) anonymous artist, who is part of an important brutalist movement, of modernist and hippie inspiration, which developed in the French countryside in the 60s-70s, reusing agricultural tools to make furniture and lighting creations, in the lineage of creators like Jean Touret, the Artisans de Marolles, and others. Dimensions with shade : 65.5 x 50 cm Chain Lamp Base : 19x16x45 cm European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
