A very weighty near-antique owl-shaped table lamp made of carved oak, with an exotic hardwood base, both with a lustrous shellac finish. The owl has been carved all around, and with great detail and character - almost art deco in style, and has two green acrylic glass eyes. English in origin, and dates to the 1950s, perhaps a little earlier. the lamp has a solid brass mount, and has been fitted with a new british-made solid brass b22 lamp-holder with a safety switch function, a generous length of premium italian-made 3-core cable with a period-appropriate mottled grey linen braided sheath, and a new pure wool baize to the base. Supplied with a uk 3-pin plug. the lamp accepts a single b22 bayonet cap bulb. the owl is signed to the side, with p.j.c.
