Fields of flowers stretch toward the horizon where green meadows rest in the shadow of the Andes. All is light and brightness in this colorful tapestry by Luis Leon. Using yarn on a handloom, he portrays the flower harvest in Tarma. A boy guides his llamas toward the market in town, each animal laden with fragrant blossoms. Situated at nearly 10,000 feet above sea level in the central Andes of Peru, the Tarma region is considered the "cradle of flowers." Titled "Cosechando flores" in Spanish.
