Inspired from the renowned series of hangings known as Tentures des Indes, a set of eight tapestries woven at The Gobelins Manufactory in Paris during the seventeenth century. The original artwork was designed by Albert Eckhout and depicts the exotic flora, fauna of the Dutch colonies. These tapestries proved to be a very successful style, and were woven throughout the eighteenth Century. This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging.
