This striking medieval tapestry was inspired from an original woven in the Loire Valley Workshops in France in the 16th Century. Tapestries depicting victorious knights celebrating their victories became popular in the 15th and 16th Centuries, A knight in full armour is depicted riding his battle-horse and carrying a splendid banner on which is featured an emblem of a red dragon. The coat of arms in the top left corner is probably those of the original commissioner of the tapestry. This tapestry hangs today at Montacute House, a National Trust property near Yeovil in Somerset. This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging. Composition: 53% polyester, 25% cotton, 18% viscose, 8% polypropile Finish on reverse: This tapestry is fully backed with luxury cotton lining incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging purposes.
