Antique English black lacquered and parcel gilt papier mache oval tilt-top tray on later stand. It is exuberantly decorated with gilded fleurs-de-lis and interconnecting scrolls, the outer edge with a narrow band of red, then a geometric gilded border, then an inner border of gilded diamonds on a red ground. It is signed on the back: 58 Bakin St., London. The stand is conveniently and cleverly designed so that the tray can tilt up and be put away. The diamond within a square swivels out to support the tray, the legs and feet are outlined with gilding.
