A powerful tension emerges between the elements, as they seem to gravitate toward one another, striving to reclaim their strength and stability.Castones is a garden full of sculptures, a sculpting space. The inspiration comes from the desire to turn stones into art, considering sculptures not as autonomous objects but as forms that relate to the viewers and the environment.Merging art and design in striking contemporary sculptural items, Castones was founded in 2019 by the Italian architect Erica Zanella.Castones feature organic and minimalist silhouettes characterized by irregular curves and sinuous shapes. Their asymmetry is harmoniously balanced, creating an overall sense of elegance.The internal opening attracts the viewer to see through, hinting at the sculpture’s potential function. These soft, sinuous openings evoke a sense of natural erosion, lending the piece an organic quality as if it were shaped by nature rather than human intervention.The surface of the sculpture has a grainy texture that suggests the raw quality of natural stone. The contrast between the material’s inherent fragility and its stone-like appearance adds depth, encouraging viewers to contemplate the interplay between the delicate nature of plaster and the enduring presence of stone.The sculptures are handcrafted solid gypsum monolith, meticulously colored and waterproofed to ensure lasting durability.Over the years, Castones has taken part in international exhibitions in Paris and Milan.
