Gracious Style
Produced by the lost wax technique, the Revelation Bacchantes Vase appears as if a Bacchantes Vase is suspended in a cube of crystal. A very difficult piece to produce, the Revelation Bacchantes Vase requires several weeks to be completed by the talented and devoted artisans of Lalique. In 1927, René Lalique’s boundless imagination and creative genius led to the creation of the Bacchantes Vase. Young priestesses of Bacchus dance around the vase showing their beauty and curves. A work of unparallelled beauty, splendor and sensuality, this vase has become a lasting symbol of Lalique’s celebrated style. The use of satin and clear finishes on the vase bring life and movement to this exceptional piece of art. Trained as a jeweler at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in Paris in the late 1880's, Rene Lalique gained recognition as an independent designer for some of the era's great jewelry houses including Cartier and Boucheron. Eventually, he turned to glassmaking, and his techniques were a triumph for the Art Deco movement. Every piece of Lalique is finely detailed and produced by hand in Alsace, France.
