This charming NYC street view dates from around 1830 and features No. 1 Park Row in lower Manhattan. While the row homes and businesses no longer remain, you can see the steeple of St. Paul's Chapel in the background. The print features well-dressed New Yorkers of the day, horse drawn carriages, an apothecary shop, and a dog. The engraving is after a painting by Charles W. Burton. Charles Burton was an Englishman who established himself as an artist in American in the early 19th century. He specialized in views that were designed to be turned into prints. The image is approximately 10” x 8” .
