This is an original 1902 botanical photograph lithograph from a French portfolio of 4 volumes of "Encyclopedie de la Plante", an “artistique” and “documentaire” collection of botanical prints, Beaux-Arts print collection. This Beaux-Arts collection was originally used for edification and research on plants from throughout the world. The botanical features the Cypripedium, better known to us as the Lady Slipper Orchid. The lady slipper orchid is a desirable, distinctive varity with its stunning bloom display. Its distinctive pouch-like lip is delicate and elegant. The lady slipper is popular but sometimes challenging as a house plant. Note the wonderul delicacy captured in this image. The light and dark tones are beautifully evident. It has a wonderful quality. Done on light gray tone backgrounds with cream tone edges. Excellent, clean, pristine condition . 11.75 x 15.25 inches.
