An original watercolor painting on paper by R. Douglas, Scottish artist active first half of the 20th century, "Toilers of the Sea" two fishermen in a small wooden boat hauling in their net, two fish are visible in the net, a wooden float and a sailing boat are to the right, 9 1/4" x 13 1/2", titled to the lower left corner front, signed to the lower right corner front. The work was probably executed in the 1930's. CA number 3963, CA purchased from a British auction house fall of 2024. The painting has been surface cleaned and reframed with White Museum matboard, blue line on the mat, Conservation Clear Glass, museum backing and 1" antiqued and distressed gold moulding. R. Douglas is listed as living at 167 West Graham Street, Glasgow, Scotland. He exhibited one work in 1937 at the Glasgow Institute for the Fine Arts.
