Chairish

$395

This is a pair of 1945 Mid-Century French couture fashion prints featuring evening dresses. They are designs for an elegant clientel who wore the latest of styles. They were featured in a 'notebook' collection of fashion designs by Rene Gruau in a magazine that catered to Parisian woman. They are NOT recent reproduction prints. The designs are illustrated by Rene Gruau. Gruau was the leading fashion illustrator who worked with iconic designers in Paris during the mid-19th century years. His work is highly collectible and recognizable. He is known for his highly stylized illustrations and strong sense of graphics and color. The models are seen in emerald green dresses with cinched waistines and full bodied skirts. Note how they "step out" from the ornamental frames and the dark backgrounds to be seen!. Also note the intricate detailing in the lacework, the tiered patterned fabric, the elegant elbow length gloves, etc...etc...etc. The prints are in excellent clean condition with good color. 8.5 x 11.5 inches in size. They come matted in white 16 x 20 inch custom mats, ready for standard size frames. Such images have become increasingly harder to find with the passage of time. These make great wall decor for today's vintage clothing fashionista.
