Chinese ink and color hanging scroll by famous modern artist Xu Beihong (1895-1953). It is titled “Rooster and Bamboo” and depicts a very bold rooster standing beneath bamboo leaves. In Chinese culture the rooster signifies courage and reliability and the bamboo represents resilience and longevity. The brushwork is quite beautiful.
