A lovely full color print after watercolor painting "Adventure of a Young Girl" by Paul Klee. Comes from a rare art folio published by Crown Publishers in Italy in 1969. Printed on one side. Hand tipped-in on a sheet of paper. Information on the back of paper is related to another piece in the folio. Excellent condition - never framed. Overall 9.5" W x 11.6" H Image 7" W x 9.75" H Dress, hairdressing, necklace and breeding which does not desert her even in the moment of greatest confusion, they all point at the parental home which watches over her and from which the young girl has bravely flown into the unknown world. She staggers along, seduced and terrified by life and the world, the body weightless and only the head intoxicated and heavy with experience. The movements of the exterior communicate with the interior, lines, planes cross each other in circles and the interior communicates with the exterior. There are no more customary objects but everything is rushing, twisting, deafening form, ghost and apparitions which entice and drive. A stone on the wayside becomes a menacing arrow of lightning, a tree a ghostly bird, eyes follow her from everywhere. Through layers of space without hold, through the spook of spaces that open and close continuously, the girl floats through colors and forms which become alive without appearance of alien life, a puzzling whirl of forms which is nevertheless drawn in full artistic awareness.
