Victor Vasarely (Hungarian/French, 1906-1997). Lithograph on heavy woven linen paper possibly. The artist, known as the father of Op Art, was a master of optical and geometric abstraction. Born in the 1930's in Hungary and moving to France to study, he captured a unique perspective. His gifts are in his ability to make use of shapes to explore depth and illusion, taking on otherwise simple planes and imbuing them with added dimensionality. Dom IV VB (Benavides 609), was created in 1969. This design was purchased in London from the primiere gallery Redfern in 1973. it was described as a color serigraph/screen print on paper; numbered and signed 47/150...'Victor Vasarely' in pencil along the lower right margin, in an edition of 150, this one has becomes a rare edition nicely framed with an extra heavy board..
