Thailand's Nuttiya uses acrylic paint and applications of foil in low relief to create this painting in the image of the tree of enlightenment. Buddha achieved enlightenment while meditating beneath such a tree, which became known as a bodhi, or "enlightened" tree. Some such trees in Thailand are said to derive from cuttings of the original bodhi.
