Glowing golden against the night sky, a pipal tree is a variety of fig tree that grows in India. In Thailand, the tree is considered sacred. Buddha achieved enlightenment while meditating beneath such a tree, which became known as a bodhi, or "enlightened" tree. Some such trees in Thailand are said to derive from cuttings of the original bodhi. Working in acrylics on canvas, Nuttiya creates a joyous image enhanced by applications of foil in low relief.
