Chairish

$487

Triumph of beauty and love an elegant and refined eighteenth-century engraving celebrating the triumph of love and beauty. The scene depicts venus, goddess of beauty, with her son cupid (love), advancing on a triumphal chariot, surrounded by the graces and lively cupids, who lightly and dynamically lead the procession in an atmosphere of grace typical of angelica kauffman's depictions. the work is executed in the stippled manner, an extremely refined engraving technique that, through a dense network of small dots, allows for soft hues and delicate modulations of light. The print is executed with refined colored inks directly on the plate, creating a painterly effect of extraordinary elegance. the engraving is by william wynne ryland (london, 1732–1783), a celebrated english engraver and appointed king's engraver, who trained with françois ravenet and perfected his skills in paris with roubiliac and lebas. Ryland achieved great fame thanks to his engravings of paintings by the most important neoclassical artists. based on the extraordinary work of angelica kauffman (1740–1807), one of the most celebrated painters of her time, a cosmopolitan artist deeply rooted in italy and a key figure in european neoclassical taste. period: circa 1780 enhanced by a refined 19th-century gilded round frame, embellished with antique blown glass. dimensions: diameter: 40 cm as always, the print comes with a certificate of authenticity. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs, designer records, or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
