A delightful original antique 19th century equestrian portrait study, oil on canvas, in a period gilt frame. Primitive in nature, but alluring nonetheless. Overall presents very well. The frame does not appear to be original to the painting, as it is slightly oversized and reversed in orientation. Overall fair antique condition, with heavier losses to the frame as shown. Fairly significant crackling to the canvas. One small mark to the canvas; one small touchup to the frame edge. New backing clips in original vertical orientation holes. Eye hooks, but no hanging wire currently. Faint label on the verso reads "Thomposon & Co. 800 Washington St., Boston." Apparently unsigned.
