Original antique French Etching of Chateau La Rochefoucauld courtyard by Eugene Sadoux c. 1860 signed lower left in the plate. Presented archival matted and framed. The castle of La Rochefoucauld located in La Rochefoucauld in Charente, is a renaissance castle built largely around 1520 on the site of an 11th century feudal fortress from which the towers have been preserved. The castle and its park were declared a historic monument in 1955. Since its first construction, it belongs to the family of La Rochefoucauld (the current owner is François-Alexandre 15th Duke of La Rochefoucauld The artist, Eugene Sadoux was a student of Edward May (1824-1887) and became his assistant for the decoration of the Angoulême city hall.
