The castle of La Rochefoucauld located in La Rochefoucauld in Charente, is a renaissance castle built largely around 1520 on the site of an 11th century feudal fortress from which the towers have been preserved. The castle and its park were declared a historic monument in 1955. Since its first construction, it belongs to the family of La Rochefoucauld (the current owner is François-Alexandre 15th Duke of La Rochefoucauld The artist, Eugene Sadoux was a student of Edward May (1824-1887) and became his assistant for the decoration of the Angoulême city hall.
