This is a very RARE antique French Art Nouveau chromolithograph that dates to the late 1880’s. It comes from an unbound portfolio called La Flore Décorative which contained decorative plates of Art Nouveau designs. The chromolithograph is numbered (Pl. 32). It is entitled " Anemonees" and features windflowers which are a genus of the buttercup family. Typical of Art Nouveau, it showcases the floral motifs that served as inspiration to various decorative forms such as metal works, ceramic ware, tapestries, murals, sculptures, etc. Note the in elaborate detailing and intricacies in the designs. The print is pristine and clean. The colors are strong greens, brick red, and cream. This is a very special find as this portfolio was originally produced in very limited circulation. Because of their beauty and appeal, these images are often reproduced today. This is an ORIGINAL! It is signed by the artist on the lower right. Purchased by us in Paris.
