Offering a captivating painting of a boy tending to his dog’s injury. The work appears to be a watercolor, perhaps with some ink work as well. The initials on the bottom right seem to read “A.T.C.” and on the bottom left, the title of the work, “A Delicate Operation.” It seems possible that this was an illustration for a magazine of its time. The artist has "feminized" the dog by his work on the eyelashes, in a further attempt to pluck the viewer's heartstrings. Judging by the style of the boy’s clothing and the shoebox in particular, the painting depicts a Circa 1900-1910 event, and probably was creating during that time frame. As you can see there is a small hole on the top right and a tear accompanying it and easily covered by a mat, with no compromise to the image. On the back there’s a piece of paper glued to the top which was probably involved in the framing or display of the piece. Dimensions: About 7 1/2 inches by 10 7/8.
