“Color Build: Treasure Box” is 11x14x1”, is made with acrylic paint and reclaimed wood and is nestled in a cradled wooden panel. The Color Build series began in 2022 with an Instagram creative movement called the 100 Day Project where I took recyced materials and made one quick, colorful collage everyday for 100 Days. I think I started incorporating handmade wooden shapes around day 80? My brain was buzzing with possibilities! Wood became a very tactile material for me and was irresistable. I couldn’t help but feel like a kid all over again stacking blocks and creating dream worlds. Fast forward two and a half years later, I am still obsessed with making these blocks with found and repurposed wood. Not only are they a great exercize in working 3D, but they also inform so much for my painting practice. The two feel like natural friends. (Feel free to mix and match my 2D and 3D works!)
