Dog Painting, 19th Century

Chairish

$1,750

This is a charming barn scene of a mother hen defending her chicks against a pair of small dogs derives its inspiration from the famous Dutch/Belgium animal painter Henriett Ronner-Knip (1821-1909). The fluffy little white guy is quite adventurous when considering the ferocity of the mother hen; while the little black dog is happy to hide behind his friend. This painting is in the tradition of Victorian dog paintings; it is very well executed and in very good condition. We have not examined it with a black light. Dog paintings of the 19th century are very desirable following the inspiration of the great Mario Buatta.
