Japanese mountain throne Kannon scroll, colored inks on silk mounted on a silvery green silk brocade nakamawashi in a cloud pattern, with a shimmering gold silk brocade ten and ji in a grass pattern, a gold floral silk brocade ichimonji and gold silk brocade futai. A finely drawn and shaded seated Kuan Yin, surrounded by a golden nimbus, on a throne of rushes laid down upon a level rocky outcrop amid mountain peaks, her hands in Dhyana mudra, dressed in flowing robes and wearing the crown of Amitabha Buddha. Signed with one seal mark. Image size is 15 3/4" wide x 51" high, with red mahogany jikusaki at the bottom, corded silk kakio and flat woven silk makio at the top. Circa early 20th century.
