A very good early Danish modern expressionist painting by Ludvig Jacobsen (Denmark 1890-1957). This particular work exhibits Jacobsen's penchant for illustration type art, as he worked as a book and newspaper illustrator and as a cartoonist for Dags Pressen (a Danish newspaper). Jacobsen does an excellent job of capturing the mood and moment a group of passersby experience on the road. The work is oil/canvas and is signed. It is presented in a good French empire type gilt frame and has an engraved nameplate with the artist's name displayed. The work likely dates from the first half of the 20th century. Dimensions: H 26.5" x W 29.25". Canvas H 19" x W 24"
