This is a beautiful hand-colored etching titled "Barbizon - Les Charmettes" by French artist Eugène-Louis Veder (1876-1936). The scene depicts the picturesque village of Barbizon, long associated with the Barbizon School and generations of artists who were drawn to the Forest of Fontainebleau. Rendered with lively etched lines and delicate hand coloring, the composition captures the charm of the village with its half-timbered buildings, horse-drawn carriage, and figures strolling along the street. The title is handwritten in pencil in the lower left margin, and the work is signed "Veder" in pencil in the lower right. It features a well-defined plate mark with generous margins and appears to be an original hand-colored etching.
