This large and imposing landscape depicts the still waters and rugged mystical hill tops of Ullswater lake in the English Lake District, as identified by the hand writing to the rear. Signed H Cooper and dated 1909 to the lower right hand corner, this oil on canvas is presented in good order and is mounted in a gilt and gesso frame of the period. About Henry Cooper (1854 -1934) A British landscape artist, his works often depicting tranquil rural country scenes with rivers, fields and animals, he would travel the length and breadth of the country from south England to the Scottish highlands to capture the quintessential British country side.
