This portrait oil painting was created by Gerald (Gerry) Spencer in the late 20th century, and purchased in the '80s by a close friend of Gerald's, who lived in an intentional community with the artist in Long Beach California. The painting depicts a woman sitting in profile looking introspective. It is done in an impressionistic style, with an earthy burnt orange background and soft pastels molding her hair, face, and body in mint, white, and soft blush. The painting was framed by the artist and is unsigned. We have a written account from the woman who inherited the painting from her mother, who also knew Gerry personally. We have a second painting that is matching in palette, size, frame, and subject, which is featured in the second image but sold separately.
