Marie Osborne Sheppard was born in Kansas on Jan. 15, 1890. She wed hotelier James Sheppard in 1913 and moved to Santa Barbara, California. Her art work focused on the her travels to Europe in the 1930's and her life in California. She was active in the local art scene into the 1960s with various mediums: oils, watercolors, pen & ink and etchings. She later moved north to San Carlos where she remained until her death on Oct. 16, 1984. Beautiful landscape oil on canvas of the back country of Santa Barbara County. Soft subdued colored trees, brush, mountains and sky. Signed MO Sheppard 1937. Framed in a wonderful heavy gilt frame.
