Mart Visser Large Artwork Mixed Media on Old Theatre Canvas 192 x 112. The Netherlands / France, 2017. This large work was made in his Tourrettes-sur-Loup atelier in the south of France, 2017. This work presents a monumental, elongated face in muted earth tones: soft ochres, chalky whites, and weathered greys. The surface is richly textured and almost landscape like. Viewed up close the work almost reads like a topographic map. It is made on an old / antique theatre canvas with a very desirable patina, which adds a deeper layer of history and meaning to the work.
