Martin Petersen: 1867-1956. Listed Danish American artist who just had an auction sale in January for over $2000. It was a nice painting, but I feel mine is much more interesting and a little larger. This charming oil on a board of children at a pond measures 30 1/4 inches high by 26 1/4 inches wide. It is an oil on board and the beautiful hand carved frame measures 34 1/2“ x 30“. He was known to make all of his own frames but I am not quite certain whether this was one of them. He was born in Denmark and settled in Jersey City New Jersey in 1884. He studied at the prestigious national Academy of design in New York City and one numerous awards during his lifetime. He is in many important, museums permanent collections and is also in many important private collections. I do not know how prolific he was, but his works seem to rarely come up at Auction.
