Mid 18th Century Architectural Italian Copper Plate Engraving By Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Framed

Chairish

$600

We are selling this fantastic engraving by legendary Italian engraver Giovanni Battista Piranesi. This engraving features an Architectural Landscape scene that was typical of many of Piranesi's works. This particular engraving is Plate 20: Tomb of Caecilia Metella called the Capo di Bove (Ox Head) (Sepolcro di Metela detto Capo di Bove) ca. 1748. We have not examined the print outside of the frame, but we believe it is possibly an original example as it bears many similarities with a similar example in the MET. Provenance: From a fine estate collection, see the MET example, accession number 37.45.3(89). Condition: Very good, some wear to the gilding on the frame. Dimensions: Height 12 3/4 Inches 32.6 cm Width 18 1/4 Inches 46.5 cm
