This evocative oil on canvas painting by Walter Lansil captures the atmospheric beauty of the Venitian Lagoon against a backdrop of La Guidecca and San Georgio Maggiore. About the Artist Walter F, Lansil (1846-1925) was an American marine painter who earned the nickname "Venetian Lansil" due to his many paintings of Venice. Born in Maine, Lansil studied at the Academie Julien in Paris and traveled extensively in Europe from his home base in Boston, where he was a member of the Boston Art Club.
