Chairish

$199

We are pleased to present Otto II, a hand colored engraving by Karl Kappes (1821-1857), ca. 1845. This item is found at Great Britain's Royal Collection Trust. This print has not been inspected outside of the frame. The Royal Collectipon Trust describes this print as follows: "Hand coloured engraving of Otto II, Holy Roman Emperor. Full length portrait turning left, wearing a crown and mantle fastened at the shoulder while supporting a shield and sword. The arch shaped portrait sits within a rectangular frame inscribed in German, 'OTTO II.' The print has been taken from a book titled Die Deutschen Kaiser, published by S. Schmerber c.1844-47. The book is illustrated by printed portraits of Holy Roman Emperors, all after painted portraits completed in the nineteenth-century and hung in Frankfurt's Kaisersaal, a room of the City Hall once used for the coronation of Holy Roman Emperors." The print is set in a wood and brass frame that measures 23" x 17" x 2". Site dimensions are 13" x 6". Overall very good condition with wear commensurate with age. The print has no meaningful flaws. The frame shows signs of age. The brass liner has patina, etc. There are typical scuffs and imperfections to the wood frame as well. Please examine all photos closely.
