This listing is for a pair of antique hand colored engravings. These portraits are of English origin. The first of the two dates to 1819 (published by William Cribb, London). It depicts Edward Hobson Vitruvius Lawes (1781–1849). Lawes was a promenant figure in English law. He was a serjeant-at-law and barrister, who practiced in the Inner Temple, London. The second of the engravings dates to 1809 (published by William Richardson). It depicts Sir Vicary Gibbs, PC (27 October 1751 – 8 February 1820). Gibbs was an English judge and politician known for his wit. He was often referred to as "Vinegar Gibbs". He was also appointed as the attorney general under the crown. Both pieces have been professionally framed. Each framed piece measures about 12.75 x 16.75 inches.
